Here are a couple of mountain lions that we just finished up.  The open mouth snarling lion was taken by a hunter while out predator calling in 6A.  The other lion was taken in Southern Arizona with hounds.

Hunter's MX coues deer and a couple Sonoran Muleys

Here is a Hunter H.'s coues buck he took on our hunt in Mexico in January.  The official score for his Coues is 116 3/8 Gross and 113 4/8 net Boone and Crockett.  The two mule deer were taken by Jeff V. last season in Mexico as well.  Pretty good mule deer double for Jeff.

Big Mule Deer and Brown Bear

Here is a lifesize brown bear and a mule deer wall pedestal that we just finished up.  The bear is a coastal brown bear taken in Alaska.  The mule deer is an Arizona buck taken by Chris A. and scores over the 200" mark.  Chris's great buck has a little of everything, width, mass, length and some extras for character.  Thanks Chris for letting me do the work on your buck.

New Updated Website

I have recently updated my website www.mogollontaxidermy.com to better work on tablets and phones as well as computers.  The contact page has a map to find our studio that can be viewed on a phone.  This makes it easier for those who haven't been here before to find us.  I will now be able to update photos on the site more often. I have a few little tweaks to make here and there but it is almost finished.  Let me know what you think.

Alaska Caribou

We returned from our Alaska caribou drop hunt a couple of weeks ago and I am finally getting some photos posted.  I went with my father, father-in-law, Houston Davis, Mike Dewees, and Mike McCleery. We ended up waiting three days in Kotzebue before flying out into the field because most of the caribou were in a restricted area where planes can't land. We were finally flown out and after two days in the field with no caribou our pilot picked us up and moved us to an area where we were able to get into them with only a couple of days left.  It was pretty cold, especially leaving September weather in Arizona and going to that.  One morning we had about 5 degrees!  It was a great experience and one I hope to do again in the future.  We flew with Golden Eagle Outfitters who is an air taxi service out of Kotzebue and Delta Junction.  They worked hard to get us in front of the caribou and most of all they were honest.  I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a flying service out of Kotzebue.

Northwest Territories Moose, Dall Sheep, Caribou

Here are some photos of Craig H.'s hunt last fall in Northwest Territories.  Craig spent 21 days on the hunt and saw a lot of good animals.  He passed on this caribou and then after looking at the photos of it that night he decided he had made a mistake.  He was able to relocate the bull about 4 miles away the next morning and harvested him.  He also took a nice moose and Dall sheep.  I have included some photos of his Dall and Caribou mounts I did.  He put his moose up in European mount.

Hunter's Velvet Coues

Here is a great buck that Hunter Haynes took a couple of days ago.  Hunter glassed this buck up bedded and snuck into 60 yards and had to wait him out for three hours.  The buck finally got out of his bed and hunter made the shot count.

186 7/8 gross Desert Bighorn

Here is a great desert ram taken last year by Ernie Meeske.  Ernie has been applying for many years to draw this tag and he made the most of it.  He made several scouting trips and looked at several super rams.  Ernie had his son Seth, son-in-law Jeremy, and friends Jay Scott, Jack Johnson Jr., Jack Johnson Sr. and some others along to help.  You can see a video of the kill at Jayscottoutdoors.  Ernie watched the ram for several hours until he moved into a position for a shot.  He was afraid the ram would go over a cliff into the lake.  It did end up going over a cliff, but due to waiting him out, it didn't end up in the water (It did end up in a cactus patch).  Enjoy the photos of Ernie's sheep mount. Mule deer wall pedestal and little Javelina

Here is a nice buck killed by Susi E. last year in central AZ.  This was Susi's first buck and it is a great mule deer for this part of the state.  Also, the little javelina was from a herd at the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park and it ended up dying on the grounds there.  The staff wanted to display it in the visitor's center, so we mounted it and donated it to them.  There are no forms made for a javelina this small, so using the carcass as reference we carved a form specifically for the little pig.

Alaska Arctic Grizz and Dall

Here is an inland  Alaska Grizzly bear from north of the Arctic Circle that we recently finished.  The bear and one of the Dall sheep were taken by Brian R. and the other Dall was taken by his brother Chad R.  Brian and Chad have a brother who lives in Alaska so they get some great opportunities to hunt up there.  Brian has a Brown bear hunt planned for this fall and it sounds like an insane adventure.  Stay tuned and hopefully we will have some good photos of that hunt later on.
