Antelope, Coues and Mule Deer

Here are some recent mounts I finished.  The double Coues pedestal belongs to Shane R.  and he harvested both of these bucks in Mexico on the same trip.  The shoulder mount coues and mule deer were taken by Colby S. in Sonora on the same trip.  The Javelina belongs to Sean W. and was taken in unit 23.  The Antelope were taken by Kurt S.and his wife in New Mexico.

Mexico 2014

Here are some photos of our most recent annual jaunt to Sonora this year for Coues deer.  The weather was warm and the moon was big which is not a good combination for hunting deer. Our group was still able to harvest some nice bucks.  Our leases were pretty dry this year with deer numbers down quite a bit.  Even with the tough hunting conditions everyone had a great time.  We even had 12 Goulds's gobblers walk across the road in front of us one evening.  Thanks to Bob D. for the great cooking and to Pat H., Hunter H., Houston D., Rob M., Richard K., Tim R., Earl L, Bill G. and Cole G. for he good times.

Big Archery Desert Mule Deer

Here is a great mule deer that Ryan D. harvested last archery season in the southwest Arizona desert.  He took some neat photos of the buck prior to harvesting him.  Ryan has also taken some great desert bucks with his rifle.  Thanks Ryan for letting me mount your buck for you.

Hunter's MX coues deer and a couple Sonoran Muleys

Here is a Hunter H.'s coues buck he took on our hunt in Mexico in January.  The official score for his Coues is 116 3/8 Gross and 113 4/8 net Boone and Crockett.  The two mule deer were taken by Jeff V. last season in Mexico as well.  Pretty good mule deer double for Jeff.

Big Mule Deer and Brown Bear

Here is a lifesize brown bear and a mule deer wall pedestal that we just finished up.  The bear is a coastal brown bear taken in Alaska.  The mule deer is an Arizona buck taken by Chris A. and scores over the 200" mark.  Chris's great buck has a little of everything, width, mass, length and some extras for character.  Thanks Chris for letting me do the work on your buck.

New Updated Website

I have recently updated my website www.mogollontaxidermy.com to better work on tablets and phones as well as computers.  The contact page has a map to find our studio that can be viewed on a phone.  This makes it easier for those who haven't been here before to find us.  I will now be able to update photos on the site more often. I have a few little tweaks to make here and there but it is almost finished.  Let me know what you think.

Alaska Caribou

We returned from our Alaska caribou drop hunt a couple of weeks ago and I am finally getting some photos posted.  I went with my father, father-in-law, Houston Davis, Mike Dewees, and Mike McCleery. We ended up waiting three days in Kotzebue before flying out into the field because most of the caribou were in a restricted area where planes can't land. We were finally flown out and after two days in the field with no caribou our pilot picked us up and moved us to an area where we were able to get into them with only a couple of days left.  It was pretty cold, especially leaving September weather in Arizona and going to that.  One morning we had about 5 degrees!  It was a great experience and one I hope to do again in the future.  We flew with Golden Eagle Outfitters who is an air taxi service out of Kotzebue and Delta Junction.  They worked hard to get us in front of the caribou and most of all they were honest.  I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a flying service out of Kotzebue.
